The Perfect Game Preparation

Preparing for a game can sometimes be a difficult and demanding task. There are so many things that you have to do in order to perform at your highest level. Many people think that you can just show up to play the game, but they are wrong. From personal experience, just showing up won’t get the job done. I believe I’ve discovered the perfect 10 step method to allow you to have a top notch performance

In order to complete this method you’ll need a little bit of supplies. You will need a large quantity of water bottles. Also you need a device you can watch videos, listen to music, and surf the internet on. Throughout the week you need to make sure you have healthy foods on hand. Lastly, you will need some pre workout or some sort of highly caffeinated substance. Following this ten step method will help you perform to the best of your ability.

The first step is hydration. As an athlete water should be your best friend. It’s like oil to a car. Water keeps you moving. You should at least consume 8 bottles of water daily. This water will keep you from cramping on game day.

Next, a couple of days before your game you need to do some film study. You wouldn’t go into a test without studying would you? Well, film analyzation is the studying you do for your games. You need to analyze your opponents well, and know their tendencies. Keep an agenda where you can write down notes on your opponents. Throughout the days before your game look over and intently study your notes.

After that, you are led to the night before your game. You need to find a place where you won’t be disturbed. Now, instead of analyzing your opponents, you need to look at yourself. Think to yourself about your job for your team. Picture yourself performing your tasks successfully.

The fourth step is preparing your game day nutrition. You obviously want to avoid junk foods that are going to make you sluggish and tired. You need to eat enough to satisfy your hunger but not to much. The thing you need to consume for breakfast is a smoothie mixture of one scoop of 100 percent whey protein, bananas, one full graham cracker, and a cup of milk. Lunch should be a pickle and peanut butter sandwich with a side of cottage cheese and peaches. You don’t want to eat a full blown meal just before your game so, just eat a hand full of saltine crackers and drink a half cup of pickle juice (My main secret to avoiding cramps).

Following your breakfast, you will be on your way to school. Once you arrive to class you need to be alert and pay attention. Use your classes to jump start your brain. A large part of your game comes from your mind. Your classes can seem to be long and monotonous, but you can really use them as brain joggers that will allow you to get an advantage on the field.

Once your morning classes are over, and you’ve had your peanut butter and pickle lunch, your school day is over. You need to get into your car and drive home. Upon arriving home go to the darkest room in your house. The darkness should help you relax and unwind from your day. Sit back and turn on some lil Wayne and relax for a few hours as you get ready for your game.

Step 7 is getting motivated. You need to get on the internet and go to YouTube. Once there you need to type in pump ups for whatever sport you’re going to play, and watch a couple of videos while you eat your pregame snack. Allow the editing of the videos to captivate your mind. Watch the big hits, long goals, diving catches, or posterizing dunks unfold in the video in front of you. Picture yourself as the players in the video. You will start to feel the butterflies floating around in your stomach as you begin to anticipate the beginning of the game.

You’re now finally ready to go to your game. On the way over you need to get a dose of caffeine. The best way to do this is by taking a scoop of pre workout. This will allow you to have endless energy for your game. It will give you an edge over the other players.

As you walk into the locker room take a seat in your locker. Cover your face in a towel and close your eyes. Block out all noises around you, plug in your headphones, and listen to music. From there you wait for your coach to emerge from his office. Finally, when your coach comes out of his office it’s time to get dressed. The last step is to throw on your uniform and lace up your cleats.

After following these ten easy steps you have successfully prepared for your game. You’re ready to go out and preform. The steps will allow you to play up to your full potential. I’ve used them for my entire high school career, and a lot of my success I credit to my prepping. Next time you have a game to prepare for, try these steps. You’re going to love the results.
