Towards Healthier Eating Habits: Strategies and Goals

Food is any edible content that is consumable by living organisms, which provides the body with energy and nutrition for maintenance of the living body. Food habits are termed as the way of selecting and consuming food as per an individual need, depending on the culture, availability of food, and the ability to digest it. Food habits are generally acquired from the parents and the region where people live. It is very difficult to change the natural habits. Every individual has different eating habits some are good and some are bad. Eating habits tells about the pattern of meal a person takes during the whole day. Good and healthier eating habits promote health and make the individual physically and mentally strong. There are different eating habits adopted by different individuals according to their lifestyle. This is what will you do to achieve healthier eating habits essay where I will try to answer this question. 

The sociological sense of food consumption can be seen in our day to day lives. People eat different foods based on their cultural and religious inclinations. For example, in some societies eating a vegetarian is allowed while eating the nonvegetarian diet is not allowed. Similarly, harvest festivals are associated with some special foods such as pumpkin with Halloween and Thanksgiving

I recently changed my eating habits. I have been on the keto diet for a month now, and I can say it is one of the best decisions I have made. I decided to change my eating habits because, I had a very bad, unhealthy diet and I wanted to try out something different in regards to my health and a healthy form of living. Throughout the time I have been living in the United States, I have gained over 50 pounds, and since I stated keto, I have lost 22 pounds.

Although, I eat just as much junk food when I was in Nigeria, the US provides a wider variety of junk food choices which contains a lot more sugar, making me put on twice the weight. Also, I believe that the food here are a lot fattier that what I usually do eat back home.

One reason I decided to change up my eating habit is because everyone that knows me, my family, friends back home and those here have been telling me that I gained so much. I have gotten too tired of people always telling me that that I decided to lose the weight. Also, I have a huge passion for theater. I want to either act or model or do both and one of the agencies I applied to told me to lose a couple of pounds if I really want to achieve my dream.

I am a lot happier now because most of my clothes that didn’t fit me anymore, I am now able to put them on. Also, I used to feel a lot heavier than I am right now. Whenever we go running during the summer, I was always out of breath because I wasn’t fit, but now I could say otherwise.
