Introducing Yourself: the Best Way I Can Present Myself
Human beings are the most important and complex entity in the universe. Everyone is unique in their own way. Two people can’t have the same traits not even identical twins. Introducing myself is a difficult task to do in a few lines because there are so many things to talk about and I know myself so well that I don't even know where to start with. I hope that this introducing yourself essay as my description of myself is not so different from your imagination about me.
I am Oluwatofunmi Adepegba. I am a Nigerian. I live in Lagos. I am 18 years old. I am an enthusiastic and outgoing person. People often say that I am funny and fun to be with. I am the last of three children with two older sisters, despite being the youngest I have always felt responsible for my family. My family has played an important role in my life to get me to where I am.
I am a responsible and hardworking student. I cannot say that I love school and I don’t hate it either. Although I take my academics seriously. I love my science and art classes. I love reading books. Although I have several hobbies like listening to music, running, dancing, watching movies, reading is what resonates with me because it gives me a sense of fulfillment it also allows people to interact with good thinkers and authors of the past and exposes people to new ideas. I personally like business books and biographies because you can learn about people detailed life work, history and accomplishments that has taken them years to achieve in a few pages. While most people find reading boring and tiring, reading is just an obsession for me.
I am a chemistry major, the reason I chose chemistry comes from my love for reading. I chose chemistry out of my curiosity about diseases and providing solutions to diseases. My academic goals include gaining a bachelor’s degree in chemistry to aid me in pursuing a career in medicine. My primary goal is to provide good and affordable healthcare to the less privilege in Nigeria. I decided to study medicine because I have a passion for helping people get better and improving the quality of lives. I am taking classes in sociology due to personal interest since it deals with studying society and critical tools required in understanding our society.
Understanding the term common sense is very challenging because everyone has their own different opinion on what common sense is. Common sense is a group of ideas present in society that is expected to be known and displayed by people. There’s alot of limitations based on a variety of factors that influences what a person views as common sense. Some of these factors like their background and how they were raised will be a great limitation. Common sense can touch base on something as serious as making sure one doesn't leave a child unattended in their car to things more lighthearted like washing your hands after using the restroom. I believe common sense is an ongoing evolving concept that not only keeps changing but has been changing since the beginning of time. For example, about a year ago it was normal for people to go public places without using a mask and now if a person doesn’t wear a mask when leaving their home, they will be criticized for it because of covid-19. In reading short common sense is not a concrete way to go about interpreting information it cripples people reasoning and only allows them to understand through their terms instead of understanding where other people are coming from.
Overall, if you spend time trying to interpret a piece of information, and relating it to only things you know and things that come across is common sense for you, you’re going to have a tough time.
