My Motivation To Step Into A Changing Career Of Social Worker
I am applying to do social work at a degree level because I want a worthwhile and life changing career. I would like to be a family and child social worker. I like working with people and I volunteer within school helping in classes. I have always wanted to work with children because I have always loved the thought of being able to change a child’s life by helping them for the good. I love working under pressure and I like to give myself a challenge to complete. I have currently been able to uphold a job in my local coffee shop and have kept it for more than a year, not only have I been able to keep it, but my trust and duties have increase, not only do I take customers’ orders, showing that I have people skills. I also am fully qualified to use the till and to handle money. Within school I was elected prefect, this shows I have excellent behaviour, attendance and present myself well with uniform. It also shows that I like working with and talking to younger students with in the school and I can get along quite well with teachers and staff.
My hobbies are limited due to when I am not studying, attending school and working, I am babysitting my little sister. But I do enjoy, helping with in the school, I have always wanted a job where I could help benefit children’s life’s and knowing that I am even attempting this while still is school by helping the teachers along lesson and being there for students when they are struggling too makes me feel good. I currently have coped well with exam pressure and I have done well in my exams throughout 4th and 5th year. It was tuff, but I managed, I had an organised study plan and I have attended all supported study and Easter revisiting classes. I currently study English, Maths, Photography, Modern Studies and Music. English and Photography will be useful because there both essay-based subjects. Modern studies are a good subject to have because it is giving me back ground knowledge into poverty, many different laws and rights. I can work independently and in groups, but depending the task, I normally prefer to work in groups, that’s why I am able to put across and skills and ideas and I am able to take on other people’s skills that I may lack and listen to their ideas that I may of never thought of. I am a very loving, polite and well mannered, I also a good listener, but as listening well I do have boundaries and I can accept the limits of what can be accomplished during a specified period and what can’t.
In addition, being a good listener, me myself move my hands when speaking so I am very sensitive to body language. I am very well organised, from study plans to homework diaries to subject folders. every single subject has a folder and cleaned out and reorganised daily. I have a study plan that I follow nighty and have a very near and organised homework dairy. Possible I paths I would like to take after I have my degree in social work is being a family and child social worker, as a family support worker, this means I will have to offer practical help and emotional support to families experiencing all kinds of difficulties. Another path that’s I can consider taking is a medical and public health social worker, this means I will work with patients to ensure they receive proper attention and treatment.
