Personal Plans in thw Career of Banking and Finance
Graduating high school in Jeju Island off the coast of Korean Peninsula and spending the majority of my life in a foreign part of the world, I am ready to write a new chapter. From dishwashing a mountain load of pots and pans in a Japanese restaurant to packaging frozen pork cutlets in a freezing factory, I grabbed every opportunity to support my sweet old grandmother while also preparing for my demanding exams. I can proudly call myself a diligent opportunist. Rutgers University, offering one of the most prestigious educations in the world, its academic programs can immensely help advance my career in banking and finance.
I have been working at a financial institution for over three years, starting as a bank-teller. I am now a personal financial representative and an assistant team manager. It is at this workplace that I developed my professionalism but also improved my English communication skills. “Smooth sailing” is certainly not the way I would describe my learning experience but the amount of responsibility and the gratification of growing a team of professionals is invaluable. By absorbing and developing the crucial details as a business administrative student at Rutgers University, I plan to achieve the great level of self-confidence for my future endeavors. In the words of my grandmother, “Knowledge combined with experience is not only essential for success, but is a potential path to mindfulness.”
College is not just an institution where one receives education and moves on with their degrees. It serves as a vital steppingstone for such diverse talents from all around the world, to build networks and share ideas that can ultimately broaden our perspectives in life. Rutgers University is known to be the most culturally diverse university in the United States for over two decades. For a shy girl from a small island, serving bank clients of all nationalities has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. At Rutgers University, I hope to take full advantage of the relationships that I will encounter. I plan to build networks within the school communities while also working part-time in the most populous city in the state of New Jersey. I wish to be humbled by the vast talents around me, but will also contribute to the community by actively taking part in college programs and eventually gaining enough knowledge and experience to serve as a business mentor.
Every person quantifies success differently. While some students become medical professionals to find new cures for diseases, others may simply follow the footsteps of their family members. Both decisions are respectable and require tremendous effort and dedication. Besides becoming a successful business woman and an entrepreneur, my personal goal in life is to build a close-knit family. I was raised by my lovely grandmother while my parents worked long arduous hours in the United States to support me financially. My grandmother did an exceptional job, raising me from a young girl into a strong independent woman. I cannot thank her enough.
However, I also dearly missed my mother throughout my school days, especially at graduation ceremonies. Rutgers education will allow me to become the first college graduate in my family, and this can open the path for us to live closely together. A university that provides its students with opportunities to grow in intellect, advocates the maturing of one’s character. It offers the advantage of a culture-filled environment that will not only facilitate my development as an individual, but also help me pursue my passions. At Rutgers University, I will immerse in everything the institution has to offer to develop into a more mindful individual, a mindful leader who serves as a strong foundation for the people in need.
