She was born to Eleanor Rosalynn and James Earl Carter Jr. popularly known as Jimmy Carter alongside her three brothers, Jack, Donnel and James. Amy spent the first three years of her life in her birthplace, Plains. Her family then moved to Georgia's capital city, Atlanta to live in the government house when her father became the state governor in 1970. In 1976, they left Atlanta, Georgia for the White House in Washington D.C. when Jimmy became president.Amy Carter completed her elementary school education at the Stevens Elementary School, Washington D.C.
