The History of Bubblegum
Everybody chews bubblegum whether its to help them study, focus better or make their breath smell better. Bubblegum is the solution that can help students not fall asleep in school during classes. It’s hard going without chewing gum in a day. Gum now is our life thing without it, I wouldn’t know what I would do. What I think is that gum has helped a lot of students during school so gum has a big impact on us. Chewing gum became a good results on students education. Thanks to Walter Diemer for inventing bubblegum to the world, without it we wouldn’t even know about it.
The world was so different without bubblegum. In the back days, there was no bubblegum so people chewed birch bark tar. Some, “also chewed gum-like substances made from resins and other residues from trees, grass and other plants”. There was also another popular gum base called Paraffin, which “couldn’t be chewed until it was heated up and moisturized in the mouth”. They only had these types of gum-like to chew. They chewed it so it can fresh them and as we chew gum it freshes us by chewing the actual gum that Walter Diemer invented. “First, there was someone who tried to make bubble gum but it didn’t sell too much because it was too wet and it would pop easily when we made bubble”. So, in 1928, “Walter Diemer invented the first bubblegum in Philadelphia, PA. Fleer Chewing Gum Company was where he started playing around with new gum recipes and created a formula that was less sticky and more stretchable”.
Nowadays, bubblegum is popular and addicting that can’t be stopped. People chew gum all day long in today's generations. Bubblegum fixes, cleans your teeth, and also refreshes breath at the same time. Even little kids chew gum they are not scared if they swallow it. Everyone carries gum everywhere they go. The best time we need gum is when we are traveling on a plane we need gum for our ears so it won’t hurt. “Chewing gum is proven to keep your appetite at bay, relieve stress, and improve productivity”. “Chewing gum after a meal not only helps to improve intestinal motility, it may also help to reduce the symptoms of chronic heartburn associated with gastroesophageal reflux or GERD”. “The benefits of chewing gum is improve memory, fight drowsiness, lessen depression, eliminate nausea, etc”. Some people just have to have something in their mouth to keep them busy. Not everybody is the same as others but some are like that.
A very big thank you to Walter Diemer, because if we didn’t have him there would be no gum in this world. The best gum to chew is sugar-free gum, it will prevent you from getting cavities. A lot of people are diabetic, but they chew sugar-free gum and most of the gums are sugar-free. Gum helps your teeth stay good and healthy. Without gum I think the day won’t go good, it’s a habit now days because everyone loves to chew gum. The habit of chewing gum will never stop until gum is gone. If gum goes away the world would be so different because there are so many people who chew gum everyday and if they don’t then it’s going to be a very hard time for them. So what I think is that gum is a must thing to have wherever you go. Bubblegum is the biggest impact that came through our lives, without it we wouldn’t know anything about gum.
