Thomas Jefferson Vs Abigail Adams: The Struggle for the Voice of Women in America
Even though any law was made for equality, society always had put Women down when it's not even their fault, the false statement of thinking women can’t do anything or is weak, do not have the ability to Vote. It did not matter if this was the 18th century women were not treated equally as other men. While in the 18th century Jefferson had a different point of view about women. He treated women just to his enjoyment and not as in politically involved. that all people were not treated equally especially women were not given many rights that men had.
It is difficult to understand the thinking of Jefferson who believed in personal liberty and the equal creation of all men, to put such boundaries on women. (The same idea can be seen in Jefferson's writings and actions toward slavery.) . He put certain bountries to women because as he said “Women should please the particular male in their life who stood for them to the world, be it father, brother, or husband. The way he said that is even wrong and proves that he did not treat women the same as men while he still passes a law for equality and the end of slavery. Jefferson believed that women should only please their families and not get involved in politics because it would not be right. Women during slavery were put to no choice but to do what the owner demanded and that was not fair according to the law that Jefferson passed and yet everyone ignored it.
Even though Jefferson was the most important leader that took away slavery and made equality for men by making a law, the way he acted toward women changed everything. As he was the owner of many slaves he always would have demanded them to do things for his happiness and find it fun, but the thought of women in politics changed everything for Jefferson. The other is that human equality goes deeper than just political equality. In this sense, all people are considered of equal value and worth or equal in the eyes of God. All are created moral equals. In fact, Jefferson intended both of these senses of natural equal. women were not allowed to vote The declaration of sentiments also called a declaration of rights and sentiments, which is all about the right and equality for women The Declaration of sentiments and resolutions was drafted by Elizabeth Cady Stanton for the women's rights convention at Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. Based on the American Declaration of Independence, the sentiments demanded equality with men before the law, in education and employment. This is why this declaration is so important because now everything is equal between men and women.
Letters by Abigail Adams are a very important aspect to this because a letter on March 31, 1776, Abigail Adams wrote to her husband, John Adams, in Philadelphia, urging him and other members of the Continental Congress to keep the interests of women in mind as they prepared to fight for American independence from Great Britain. this is highly important because she was the first woman to even think about the rights of a woman, this is actually the first woman to ask her husband John Adams to pass a law about the rights of women.
When Jefferson put a law of all men being equal he meant by political, but not for women because always thought women were not right for the job. Jefferson believed that the will of the people, expressed through elections, and politically but none of the women were happy about this .in the beginning of 18th-century women's role was to stay home and make the family happy by cooking food all day because women stood up from themselves and protested to get a chance, which they did by the late 18th century and early 1900s, women and women's organizations not only worked to gain the right to vote, they also worked for broad-based economic and political equality and for social reforms. Women who upheld traditional gender roles argued that politics were improper for women.
This is why this movement of women is very powerful because Jefferson knew what did was not right but still, he did not agree with women being in politics. Buy women stood up for themselves and they were tired of waiting and letting the men boss them around at home. Therefore no women were not treated right by Jefferson's law of equality laws, and women had to make a choice to get up on to politics as they deserve to get jobs in politics. women did not deserve to go through any of this. by the help of babygirl and by all the other women trying to make a change deserved this.
So in conclusion women have all the right to go into politics and to get as much as equality as men get because they are all people of America and they should not be treated differently just because of the different gender. What Jefferson did should never ever happen again in history.
