Exploring the Elements of the Perfect Job: Comprehensive Analysis

Describing My Ideal Job

“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.” It was said by a famous philosopher Aristotle. This is a cliché that we heard every time we apply jobs. Some people can’t follow these because of some circumstances. But it can be possible by acquiring the knowledge of choosing the ideal job that perfectly fits into you. My ideal job is to become an engineer someday. But there are many conditions I need to consider in selecting this ideal job for myself. These are: activities on the job, skills used in the job, the people you work with, the physical environment, salary and fringe benefits, opportunities for advancement and many others. Along with these examples, I will only choose three conditions that I consider in selecting my ideal job.

First of the most important condition, I consider, is the physical environment of the workplace. The environment of the workplace should be considered because I should be working in the safe place. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), 2.3 million women and men around the world succumb to work-related accidents or work-related diseases every year; this corresponds to over 6,000 deaths every single day. There are around 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million victims of work-related illnesses annually worldwide, according to the ILO. The statistics above prove that we should consider first the physical environment of the workplace. If we calculate the work-related death and the 2016 worldwide population that is 0.000031% risk that our life is in danger. Even though the risk is minimal, there is always a chance that we will experience it or it can occur in our life the danger in the workplace. We should always remember that safety always comes first because our life is more important than anything.

Second condition that I consider in my ideal job is the salary and fringe benefits that is given on the job I choose. High salaries means I can buy all I want. All of us look for the high salary jobs so that we can live in a wealthy life. If I have high income, it means I can live in a luxurious life. I can travel abroad with my family than the people who have low salary jobs can’t do. It can also help me to earn some money for my future. Besides, I can also help and finance my family for their living. If there are high salary jobs I need to also look that it must be associated with fringe benefits. These benefits can help us if something happens to us and give us extra credits for the works we do. In the Philippines, they have so many fringe benefits that is given by the company, for examples: 13th month pay, retirement pay, overtime pay, maternity and paternity leave, SSS benefits, PhilHealth benefits and Pag-IBIG benefits. But these benefits may differ on what job or company you applied.

Aside from the fringe benefits that I get from the company, I should also look if the job or the company follows the law, given by the state, gives us some extra fringe benefits. For example, in the Philippines they have: security of tenure (no employee can be dismissed from work except for a just), the work day and work hours (a working employee should be paid in all of their hours they spend in the job), weekly rest day, safe working conditions and many more. The state gives these benefits because they want the employees must not be overworked in their job and protect their rights. The salary and the fringe benefits must be given to the worker, according to their job, equitably so that everyone will be contented. The third condition I should consider in selecting my ideal job is the people I work within the company.

All of us spend in the work surrounded by our colleagues. This circumstance can affect our work. If the relationship between me and my colleagues is good, this can benefit me in terms of my work. It can lighten the work because all of you are working together. If the relationship between me and my colleagues is bad, this can’t benefit you in terms of my work. It can hardened my work because they can ruin my work, job and my integrity to my superior. They can also pass me the heavy workloads. This is some instances that can happen to me in terms of the people you work with. According to the website of verywellmind.com, there are effects to the workplace that you are bullied; first is the health issues: they can give you stress, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, high blood pressure, and ulcers.

Second, it can affects your job performance: having trouble making decisions, incapacity to work or concentrate, loss of self-esteem, and lower productivity. Other effects are: berating people, steal the credit, excluding you, making snide remarks, threaten you and unfair criticisms. But it is my decision if I want to fight or flight. This condition must be consider and if I am not satisfied, happy and contended I have the option to apply in the other company whom people are nice and good. All of the three conditions that are mentioned above are the most important reasons and conditions that I must follow to choose my ideal job. These guidelines can help me to search the best or the perfect job that fits for me. I will be able to know the right path for me. If I choose my ideal job correctly, it will be in my benefit because it will change my situation in life, gives me more inspiration to enjoy my job, work harder, have more experience, I can explore my knowledge more and be able to achieve my dream in life and that is to be a successful engineer in a big company. And, I will always remember what Mae West said that, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
